It is a disease, so heinous, it affects every man, woman and child. It is called the leprosy of the soul. This disease affects the way people think, act and as they walk. His result is always a horrible death. It makes outcasts of the brightest of scholars, makes trembling victim of strength, turns into beauty Rank ugliness, and destroys the souls of men. This leprosy of the soul is not only a disease but a nuisance. Its destructive power is much larger known than any cancer in humans. This leprosy of the soul is a "sin", and the plague of leprosy "love sin."
Are there a known cure for this disease? How do you find help? Chin up dear reader. There is a cure, but the cure can be found only in God's word written, the Bible. Leviticus Chapter 14 provides specific treatment for this disease. Verses one and two tell us that, the leper, the priest be brought. Who is this priest? Jesus, the Son of God, the priest, that the disease, (Hebrews 9:11-12, Hebrews 3:1) can heal.
Although Genesis chapter 14 describes the physical cure for leprosy – God uses this account as an allegory for us to heal the leprosy of the soul, sin. God takes care of our physical Health, but he is far more to our spiritual health. The only cure for sin is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Leviticus tells us that the Lepers brought to the priest. It is the Christian work to share the love of Christ through His Word, the Bible, with those around him. We can not know how Person to respond to Jesus, but I know we will plant many seeds bear fruit.
When I was a young man several Saturdays in the summer I took some of the sixth Class boys noodling (hand fishing). My daughter does not care about noodling, but wanted to learn some of their classmates. When the boys asked for my name I told them my name was Mark, but they could call me Handsome. (I weighed a slim trim 350 pounds at the time.) The boys laughed, but she always called me Handsome.
We spent the afternoon fishing hand. I taught the boys how to catch carp and catfish animal. We had a good time. I never cared much for fish, and I hated them so we threw our cleaning usually catch back into the flow. My wife always full of a lot of sandwiches. When we tired of our work, we sat around eating sandwiches and visited. Usually I shared Jesus with the guys.
One particular boy was very angry. He had been in a car accident and had hurt terribly. He could not run and play like the other guys, but he was the best carp Petter in the crowd. When we visited about Jesus, he told me that Jesus did not love him, would otherwise he does not get violated. He said he hurt all the time.
I told him I was sorry about his injuries, but Jesus loved him very much and wanted him eternal life. I told him that if we repent of our sins and accept Jesus as Lord in the next world we would not feel pain, and we would live forever. I took the boys noodling on five trips. Every time I visited the same boy Jesus was bitter and said, Jesus did not love him. I assured him that Jesus loved him very much, but I never seemed able to comfort him.
After this summer's bitter young family moved to another city. I lost him. I thought of him from time to time and said a short prayer, when I thought of him, but my thoughts about him were rare. About eight years later my wife and I were leaving a convenience store as a young man hobbled over to me. He asked me if I "Handsome".
I told him I was not sure. I knew he was one of the boys be out of noodling trips, but I did not recognize him. He taught himself, and I realized it was the boy who was injured in a car wreck and was terribly bitter. He said me that he went with me in the summer Noodling was the best summer of his life. He said: "There was not a day go by that I do not think about what you said about Jesus. I was so full of bitterness and hatred it has take me six years ago, Jesus as my savior. I told the Lord that he is still needed to show me why I in the car wreck was injured. "
He continued, "The next day I went to therapy and saw a handicapped boy crying because he do so from the therapy he had. I told him hurt by Jesus, and he listened to me. The handicapped boy said if I loved Jesus as bad as I hurt, then he could too. I knew then why I was in this wreck. I can tell you disabled children about Jesus. I even made a fish pond in my garden so I can show children how pet carp. "
The day I went home humiliated. God's word says that the Father draws people to Jesus and the Holy Spirit convicts. If only we share the love Christ is God in a way we imagine ourselves to not work. Only Christ can cure leprosy of the soul, but we have to bring those of this terrible disease to suffer our priest, Jesus Christ calculated.
The purification of the leper is an actual event that transpired in the Old Testament under the law, but it was a foreshadowing of the atoning grace of God through Jesus Christ our Lord. The only cleaning for leprosy of the soul is the belief and confession in the death, resurrection and brought salvation through the blood of Jesus. (Romans 10.8 to 10)
