i fancy giving the skate a go this year, so-
wat rods
lines
hook sizes and shapes
reels
traces
leads
baits would i need
and wat time of year should i fish

ny other tips would be helpfull


people- team mcminn (me, drew)

tides- end of flood, slack, bit of ebb

duration- about 5.15 or 5.30pm til 7.45pm

rigs- float, flapper and wish bone rig

bait- lug, mack, squid and sandeel

weather- calmish, clear and absilutely frrrrreezing

resuls- coalie, pollack and pouting

report- we headed out about 5ish. hit the dee about a quarter past. we were targetting whiting mainly, but didnt get any, started by getting some pouting and and an odd pollack, my uncle (drew) got a coalie later on. we tried the float for a while, got a good few pollack on it, best baits were mack and sandeel, i had one pouting on lug and one or two pollack and pouting on squid. we missed a couple of beter fish, but cant complain, we didnt blank, we got plenty of fish but all on the small side, but didnt get as many species as you may expect from the dee.......... :D

i have braid on one reel catch a lot more fish with, must just detect bites easier as it is on a lighter rod too.
